The devastation of the Halifax explosion was unprecedented in Canada in perspective regarding casualties, force and distance of the blast, and the widespread damage to land and property.

On December 6, 1917, a munitions ship carrying explosives collided with another ship in the harbour of Halifax setting off the worst man-made explosion before the atomic bomb. Around 9 am the ships exploded into fragments, houses crumbled, factories caved in and windows were blasted in on the viewers. The killed at least 1900 people in Halifax and Dartmouth, and injured thousands more. This gripping tale following the heroes and survivors of the Halifax Explosion as they struggle to cope with the devastation.
